What Is The Google Sandbox?

What is the google sandbox?

Under the Google Sandbox Theory, new websites are placed in a sort of time out limbo for a period speculated to be 6 - 12 months until the website has proved that it's not a fly-by-night operation which can be through a number of theorized means. Discussions such as trustworthy links, length of registration and uniquesness of content have been batted around as possible keys to the full weighted serps.

Once the Sandbox period is over, then new websites are described as climbing rapidly in the rankings.

It isimportant to note that the theory of this effect is applied only to fields noted as being competetive, or in need of a "referee".

The Google Sandbox Theory is an unofficial theory based on observation and anecdotal evidence from those within the search engine optimization industry.

During a recent interview on webmaster radio Matt Cutts, who is an engineer at google, didnt deny the existence of such an effect but did in my opinion elude to the fact that new changes may make these side effects appear. The interviewer Webguerilla had brought with him an example of identical content and differentlt aged domain with vastly different outcomes in the rankings that seemed to be undeniable evidence of such an effect.
