Web Designer Is Not An Seo Expert
A web designer and a seo or sem "expert" are very different things. I often browse other esigners sites and clearly many of them are top notch designer with great vision and skill. I now have notice that almost every designer advertises and tergets the phrase search engine optimization on one of their pages or often "ironically" on just a part of another page (which is a poor optimization appraoch).
I see many pages that are ithout question ugly to look at but rank over millions of pages in the most competitive searches, this clearly helps make the point that design and seo are different areas of expertise.
I found this snippet on another designers site. This designer and his staff hold countless PHD's with strengths in Java, php, perl and more disciplines, but this is such an incomplete and incorrect statement that they expose the lack of practical experience working towards rankings.
"Search Engine Optimization is the first step in your web-marketing program. Customers are driven to the web site by constructing META tag pages that rank high in the eyes of search engines. The effort is continual as more and more sites are listed each day, competing for "top spot" listings."
A web designer is a great skill but a web designer does not have skill in seo and ranking without seperate experiences working to gain it as a specific skillset.
